CENTRAL INDO-PACIFIC

CENTRAL INDO-PACIFIC

The Central Indo-Pacific comprises the tropical waters of the western Pacific Ocean, the eastern Indian Ocean and connecting seas. It is home to the widest diversity of seagrass species, with approximately 20 seagrass species calling the Central Indo-Pacific home. The seagrass meadows here are predominantly dominated by turtlegrass (Thalassia testudinum), manatee grass (Syringodium filiforme), and shoal grass (Halodule wrightii).
