Olivier Leger
Project Seagrass Ambassador
Oli is an ocean wildlife artist creating intricately detailed artworks filled with stories hidden in the details. His artwork invites people to explore the ocean and what it means to them.
Oli’s creative process is informed by diving, fieldwork, research and conversations with scientists, conservationists and communities. His exhibitions, talks and outreach share those stories with audiences across the UK.
Oli’s relationship with Project Seagrass grew from his research for Ambassador, a painting about UK seagrass created to help share the importance of a marine habitat, that many people may not realise we have around our coasts.
In Ambassador, a seahorse becomes a guide into the hidden world of seagrass meadows, helping connect people with the science, community action, policy, and public engagement that will shape the future of seagrass.
As a Project Seagrass Ambassador, Oli hopes his paintings, exhibitions, and outreach can offer people a fun and accessible way to dive into seagrass meadows and connect them with wider ocean stories.
