Dr Lucy Coals

Project Support Officer

Lucy has worked in seagrass research and conservation since 2015. She joined Project Seagrass in 2021 as a Scientist supporting the International Climate Initiative (IKI) Seagrass Ecosystem Services Project, where she drew on extensive field experience to strengthen the capacity of national partners across the Indo-Pacific to deliver effective seagrass research and conservation programmes.

She now leads Project Seagrass’s International Programme as Senior Science Officer, advancing initiatives that enhance local food security while protecting and restoring marine biodiversity.

Lucy completed her PhD at Deakin University, Australia, in collaboration with Project Seagrass and Swansea University. Her research focused on optimising and scaling seagrass restoration to enable larger, more effective ecosystem recovery.
