We are seeking a Senior Science Officer to lead the design, delivery, and coordination of scientific research in Scotland, with a primary focus on the Accelerate Seagrass project. The position is strongly science focused, with responsibility for delivering high-quality fieldwork, data analysis, and scientific outputs that support seagrass restoration and conservation.
We are seeking a Senior Science Officer who will be responsible for creating, managing, and interrogating a wide variety of physical and biological datasets to develop seagrass habitat maps for areas throughout UK as well as internationally in the longer term. We are particularly keen to hear from innovative individuals with an aptitude for developing and applying novel approaches aimed at standardising, improving and streamlining spatial data workflows.
We are seeking a Policy Officer who will take a leading role in developing, coordinating and delivering Project Seagrass’s policy and influencing work, working across the devolved governments where relevant to seagrass restoration and conservation. The position is evidence-led, with responsibility for monitoring marine and environmental policy developments across Scotland, the UK and devolved administrations, and for translating scientific research and organisational learning into clear, credible policy positions and influencing activity.
We offer yearly internships for students who are enrolled on university courses that require a year in industry as part of their studies. Usually, these internships constitute part of a funded degree programme and take place between year 2 and year 3.
For individuals that are not students and not currently enrolled in sandwich-year degree programmes, Project Seagrass do not offer any unpaid internship positions. We believe that such positions are not equally available to everyone. Any paid positions will be advertised.
